Purchasing Specialist Summary: The Metal Purchasing Specialist is
responsible for procuring materials, supplies, and services related
to metal commodities in compliance with organizational purchasing
policies and procedures. This role requires a strategic and
analytical mindset to design and implement cost-effective
procurement strategies, manage vendor relationships, and ensure the
timely and accurate acquisition of metal resources to support
organizational operations. Expect a fast-paced environment and
fact-based results are required.Metal Purchasing Specialist
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:Follow the weekly / bi-weekly
purchasing schedule and order cadence.Purchase specialized or
complex metal materials, and services following established
policies.Review and analyze purchase requisitions to recommend
process improvements and monitor change orders.Investigate and
develop reliable sources of supply for metal commodities.Establish
and maintain professional relationships with vendors, facilitating
supplier audits and conducting vendor risk assessments.Issue bid
requests, prepare specifications, and analyze proposals to select
and award vendors for contracts.Monitor and control the costs of
purchased materials.Conduct market tests to evaluate pricing trends
and collaborate with engineering and sales teams to address
supplier issues.Resolve invoicing or receipt discrepancies.Assist
other procurement staff with identified projects and programs as
needed.Metal Purchasing Specialist Required Education, Knowledge &
Skills: Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, may elect to
consider applicants with equivalent 5 to 10 years' experience
and/or a combination of experience/training/education in lieu of
degree.Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably
with expertise in metal commodities.Technical skills a plus;
aluminum or steel parts and well as industrial assembliesExperience
holding vendors accountable.Working knowledge and a thorough
understanding of procurement processes and alternative
replenishment methods Effective priority and time management
skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office productsPrevious experience
and/or proficiency in using ERP systems.Ability to work in a
fast-paced, dynamic environment and balance multiple
priorities.Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels
throughout an organization internally and external to the company
(i.e. - vendors). Ability to work independently and within a
team-oriented environment.Ability to research, analyze data, and
present fact-based conclusions.Metal Purchasing Specialist Physical
Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee
may be required to routinely sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear, use
hands and fingers to keyboard, turn handles, feel, stoop, kneel,
crouch, twist, crawl, reach, and stretch. The employee occasionally
moves around the office and enters the manufacturing areas.Specific
vision abilities required for this job include close vision, color
vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust
focus. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
Work Environment:Manufacturing work environment that has frequent
exposure to fumes or airborne particles, noise intensity level,
proximity to moving mechanical parts and exposure to weather. Light
to Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone,
printers, light traffic, and manufacturing noise from adjoining
wall plant) Ability to sit at a computer station for an extended
